This year, we take a moment to remember Gary Steers, a beloved member of the Midwest Horse Fair® family.
He passed away on August 14, 2015 after battling brain cancer.
Gary left behind a legacy of friendship, hard work, and a sincere passion for the horse community. He channeled his love for horses into a successful business, Steers Tack.
For more than thirty years, Gary helped to shape the Wisconsin Horse Council and the Midwest Horse Fair.
Before he died, Gary made it known that he did not want anyone to “waste money” on flowers and funeral proceedings, but he did agree to let us set up a fund in his honor called “Gary’s Kids.” All proceeds are used to enrich the children’s experience at the Midwest Horse Fair.
In honor of Gary, his dedication, and his kindness, the Midwest Horse Fair is handing out a “Gary’s Kids” bandana to the first 1,000 people who come to the Midwest Horse Fair Youth Rodeo on Sunday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m.
No one ever really dies if they took the time to leave us fond memories; while Gary may have left us physically, the memories of the great man he was will remain for lifetimes to come.
