COLT STARTING
Born in Glen Innes, Australia, TJ Clibborn moved to the United States in 1990 and founded True Partnership Inc. His training philosophy centers on building a solid foundation of trust and respect between horse and rider.
Since 2009, TJ has reached the finals in every Mustang Challenge he has entered. He also earned back-to-back championships at two colt-starting events at Clark Quarter Horses in Pennsylvania. After those victories, he was invited to judge the event for two years and will return to compete in the 2027 Masters Challenge.
TJ teaches clinics throughout Wisconsin and across the country. At his farm in Deerfield, Wisconsin, he trains horses and offers colt-starting and obstacle clinics. Through patient instruction and practical experience, TJ encourages riders to become softer, kinder, and more thoughtful in their interactions with horses, creating lasting partnerships built on trust and respect.
Something unique about TJ that most people don’t know!
TJ played a role as a mounted prison guard with his Mustang mare, Choke, in the 2019 movie Just Mercy, starring Jamie Fox in 2019
