Groundwork, Jumping & Foundation Training
Proudly sponsored at the Midwest Horse Fair by Menzel's!
Tik and Nick started the Groundwork Guys just after Tik’s first win at Road to the Horse in 2024. They met in 2017 on another horse project and have spent many winters working together on various projects. Tik has won Road to the Horse twice, in 2024 and in 2025, with Nick as his pen wrangler. Together they have written articles, filmed educational videos, promoted open-minded horsemanship, and encouraged students and peers to never stop learning. Nick has had a passion for education, tutoring students through high school and University. He has been teaching horsemanship and writing educational content since 2014. Nick currently lives in Oregon, Wisconsin, with his wife and children. Tik has written two books, the first about being a working student, the second about preparing for the World Championships of Colt Starting. Tik lives in Citra, Florida, with his wife and their two kids.
At Midwest Horse Fair, they’ll teach together as The Groundwork Guys, and each will also share their own expertise in clinics focused on their individual discipline.
Something you might not know about our clinicians!
Tik has many hidden talents, such as juggling, and while on the road, Nick and his family live in a school bus they converted into an RV!
